Superheroes and Superheroines! January 6, 2009

The Superhero quest continues and I can report one trait already. Since I’m female, I’m actually a Superheroine. Woohoo!

Did you know there are 505 Superheroines (give or take a few for counting errors) listed on Wikipedia?

In scrolling through the list, I was really intrigued by names like Celsius – she could project heat or intense cold from her hands; and Diva, whose power manifested by projecting violent sonic vibrations using just her voice.

Then there’s Glitter who has great strength, endurance, agility, and reflexes. She can engage in physical activity for long periods of time without tiring, lift approximately one ton, run approximately 40 miles an hour, and has a reaction time about twice as fast as the average human.The energy also greatly accelerates her own healing process and those of others. It can heal small cuts almost instantly.

All of these traits sound like a LOT of women I know. Like Glitter, they are working moms, working-in-the-home moms, women who are the bologna in the multi-generational family sandwich, women who struggle mightily in the work force to have pay parity, women who kiss and bandage their children’s wounds, and women who work two or three jobs to make ends meet. Like Celsius, these women embrace loved ones in warmth, place cool hands to calm flaring tempers, and, yes, roar from time to time like Diva to make their voices heard.

I think I’m getting an idea of my own Superpowers now. How ’bout you?

Oh, and I haven’t forgotten my homework assignment from yesterday: List 100 Achievements:

3) Birthed and mothered two wonderful children;

4) Had a successful marketing, p.r., advertising career;

5) Directed an environmental day camp for three years (before it was a cool thing);

5) Went back to school to become a Life Coach;

6) Became a Coach at age 48;

7) Started my own Life Coaching practice;

8) Put up a website;

9) Write inspirational, informative emails and mail them every Tuesday;

10) Present and produce wellness seminars every other week.

How’s your list coming?
