“…since we all want to think of ourselves a heroes, it doesn’t hurt to ponder what it might take to be one. It’s not easy. In fact, these lessons…are full of paradox and contradiction. Just like life.” So says film critic A.O. Scott in his latest article in the July edition of Real Simple. He goes on to offer his take on the 10 Fundamentals of Superheroism.

Here’s the first:

1. Heroes don’t always know that they’re heroes.
Sometimes a wise old Jedi or a magic owl shows up to inform you of your destiny. Sometimes you’re just in the wrong place at the wrong time and you have to do the right thing. But sooner or later you will be called, and your life will change forever.”

Great food for thought. Check back for more later.
